RF Outputs

My CF30MK3 has dual RF outputs along with GOBI, no GPS. How can I find out which one the upper and lower ports control?

I had to send my dock in for a warranty repair. It is only a single and am having iit changed to a dual while they have it. I would think I would need to tell them which one is which?

Reply 1 : RF Outputs

I have no clue on the upper/lower pass through, (I would like to know myself), However, if you have GOBI 2000, then you DO have GPS...

Reply 2 : RF Outputs

I believe mine is a GOBI 1K, the last set of 30 models got the 2K's and then on the 31's.

Reply 3 : RF Outputs

Me thinking hard right now

Wouldn't be better if I swapped my 1K for a 2K? If so, what else would I have to get besides the antenna bump out?

Reply 4 : RF Outputs

Dewd, there is NO Antenna bump outs any more with the CF-31's. It uses the WWAN antenna that is already there for the Sprint/Verizon/Att.

GOBI 2000 Card – 1100984 - $132.12

That's the PN for Heartland to order one! Whether or not the 2000 will work in a 30, I don't know! But I don't see why it wouldn't if a 1000 is working now...

Here is the software I used for my 2000 card on my CF-31: Index of ./CF-31 Stuff/

Reply 5 : RF Outputs

As I've said before I have 2, yes 2 GPS recievers in my CF-31 now lol. One that came OEM inside the machine and one on the GOBI card

Reply 6 : RF Outputs

So, your saying the 2K card does not need an antenna bump out? I was under the assumption that if you had a GPS model it has the bump out. My bad

The only time you need the GPS bumpout (like i had on my cf-30) is if you want the OEM internal GPS in which the chip goes under the keyboard, NOT the GOBI 2000 card.

I actually have 2 of the OEM GPS's for sale if you want one - it's complete with the antenna and rubber cover for the upper right corner of the screen. - Normal price is $300 (and that is truly what they're worth), but for you, I'd do $200.

w00t!

Reply 8 : RF Outputs

Geez Rob, I must be having a brain fart day. From what or how you were desribing the GOBI2K I thought that was how the OEM used the GPS. I am sorry, I was totally confused.

So, to start over........What do you think would be the best setup for me to do as to the situation I am in now? I do not use my GOBI anymore since I am using Verizon's 4G. So I don't have to move to a GOBI since I'm not using it now.

I didn't mean to frustrat or confuse you as well

If you have "4G" on Verizon then you wouldn't wanna go with GOBI as you would be downgrading to 3G. For sure the 4G is faster. If you want a GPS solution then honestly the internal, $200 OEM one is your best bet. The kit I have is complete with everything (Jeff has bought one from me). He can attest to how well it works. I also had one when I had my CF-30 as well and it worked GREAT with Streets and Trips 2010

List of drives that are compatible with the x220

Post them here. I'll keep the thread updated.

Compatible drives:

Crucial C300 with spacer mod. X220 SSD 7mm Mod (Crucial C300)

Hitatch Travelstar series that begin with model code "Z". This includes Z7K320, Z5K500, and Z5K320

Intel X-25M, 310 (mSata) and 320 series

Kingston/Intel X25-E

Momentus Thin Hard Drives | Seagate

NOT compatible:

Intel SSD 510 series

Reply 2 : List of drives that are compatible with the x220

SSD: Intel X-25M, 310 series, 320. Quite sure that's the list for SSDs right now (with the mentioned Crucial C300). All require the spacer mod with the exception of 310 series. Doesn't break Intel warranty but I'm pretty sure it does Crucial's (it's obvious the sticker has been tempered with in the photos. No way they would accept that)

HDD: Hitachi Travelstar (double check 7mm, I don't think all models are 7mm). If you are upgrading HDD, upgrade from Lenovo. It's only slightly cheaper online (if not more expensive. Cheapest seems to be $50 on Amazon, vs $65 I think on Lenovo). It'll save you the hour and a half of burning the DVDs, the DVDs themselves, 5-10 min to replace hard drive and another hour/hour half to reinstall Windows

Can anyone else confirm this? Specifically the 510 series and that the Hitachi Travelstars are generally 7mm?

I don't think so. From Intel's website:

Intel Solid-State Drive 510 Series

SSDSC2MH120A2XX, SSDSC2MH250A2XX

Product Specification

Capacity: 120 GB, 250 GB

Components: Intel 34nm NAND Flash Memory Multi-Level Cell (MLC)

Form Factor: 2.5-inch

— Thickness: 9.5 mm

— Weight: 80 2 grams

No: the Intel 510 series is a full-height 9.5mm no-spacer drive. Not all Hitachi Travelstars are 7mm either, only the ones with a model code beginning with a "Z" are. That includes the Z7K320, Z5K500, and Z5K320.

I can confirm it. I have one of the Series 510 SSD drives. Oh, and I already tried to take the board out of the 510 case and use it in a X-25M case. That doesn't work either.

I guess (true 7mm) alternatives to Intel 310 series will hit the market before too long?

Already ordered the 320GB HDD upgrade and don't mind waiting a few months if something better than the 310 is going to be released.

Op, please add Intel X25, 310, and 320 series to the first post as well, as thecrafter pointed out in the 3rd post.

Best method for Backup on multiple computers/drives

Hi,
Looking for some help with my backup situation.

I have 2 computers (desktop & laptop), both running XP.
Hard drives are fairly small on both (about 80 gb)
I also currently have a 500gb external that is just about full.

My needs for data storage are about to get much greater for 2 reasons.

I have just had a son, and my wife and I are shooting a lot of HD video. I am also backing up my entire music collection in FLAC format.

I'd like to get a 1 tb drive for my music and laptop backup, and designate the 500gb drive for photos/video and desktop backup.

On top of that, I was considering getting a 2tb drive to serve as a backup for these 2 externals and both computers.

Is this an incredibly dumb idea? Is there a better solution?
Also, is it better to use automatic backup software on a regular basis (recommendations welcome, besides the included western digital package or Norton's included backup software) or just do a good old fashioned copy/paste once/month?

Knowing USB 3.0 is available how important should that be in my purchases?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Reply 1 : Best method for Backup on multiple computers/drives

Read the forums here and the horror stories on any ext. HDS. While you can store to ext. HDs don't plan on extended periods or make it permanent. You've been warned.

Yes, you can use ext. HDs and other media for super critical storage. However, the only safe method is to use discs, like CD/DVD/BD. That way at least you can have some saved if the worst happens. Make multiple copies as well. Many users are now into "online storage" provide the cost isn't too much, like Carbonite(sp) and similar. You can also check NAS type storage for a simple home setup as well. Since, you plan to do alot of saving, please consider that too much is too much, so plan what you need to keep. Checkout the storage forum for other methods od more details plus review the requests for help.

Reply 2 : Best method for Backup on multiple computers/drives

One copy of any file is doomed to loss. Period! Multiple backups is the only safe measure. In my case, I have a clone of my entire hard drive in a box. I clone once a month. I also have other "stuff" duplicated and stored on an external USB3 SATA hard drive. Thus, two copies. In the case of my web site (on my home server) I have the original on the server, a copy on an internal slave drive, and a third copy on DVDs. I also have a clone of the drive.

Am I paranoid? Nope. I just see too many posts here from people who have their only copy of irreplaceable data suddenly disappear. For you, simply, one copy is never enough. How you manage this and with what hardware is up to you.

USB3? Yep. I added a USB3 PCI card and my external case is USB3 with a SATA drive. For moving large video files this is the only way to go. I download large one Gig video files. Moving them to the older USB2 case took about two minutes. With the USB3 and the SATA drive it now takes about 45 seconds. And you must use a USB3 cable as it has the extra conductors to get USB3 speed.

Reply 3 : Best method for Backup on multiple computers/drives

Wouldn't the obvious option be to buy a NAS (Network attached storage) with something like 4 1TB drives configured in RAID 1. That would sort all your problems out and if you get NAS with hot swapable drives you can always upgrade the amount of storage in the future?

MP3 Album Artwork Issue

My album artwork for each individual songs are not there anymore. I have never had this issue until lately. They show up in my WMP, but in my folders from my PC LIbrary they do not show up. The JPG picture is in the folder, but none of the songs show a picture or album artwork at all. This is driving me insane trying to figure out what it could be. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Reply 2 : MP3 Album Artwork Issue

Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit (x86). It is not a matter of changing a picture or album artwork. They don't show up on my MP3 SINGLES, not the folder itself. When I highlight the single MP3, it just shows a picture of "MP3", and not the album artwork. Hopefully that makes sense.

Reply 3 : MP3 Album Artwork Issue

". They show up in my WMP, but in my folders from my PC LIbrary they do not show up."

WMP has it's way to show icons which does not extend into Windows (7) Explorer.

I could be wrong but it sounds like you want WMP's functionality to extend to Explorer (which it does not today.)
Bob

Reply 4 : MP3 Album Artwork Issue

So now they aren't going to work in my Music folder on Windows 7 anymore? Just suddenly they don't appear one day? They have been in existence for several years, so I find that odd, unless PC or OS updates have changed that scenario. I'm just picky, I reckon. I like the picture to be on the MP3's itself as well, just as it is on the icon picture of the folder itself. If there isn't a way to do that now, then I'd like to know, so I won't go nuts anymore... lol

Reply 5 : MP3 Album Artwork Issue

I remember a discussion like this and in the end it was some Monkey Media or OTHER App that had enabled such a thing. Let's see if there is a way to get this in Explorer without too much work.

Sorry I couldn't find the old discussion but here's another app for that.
http://www.techsupportalert.com/content/add-album-cover-images-your-mp3-file-icons.htm

I think I see the confusion but I can't guess what addon or app did this for you before,
Bob

Reply 6 : MP3 Album Artwork Issue

Here is a detailed example:

When the MP3 is in my album folder through my music library on my PC (before I add artwork, etc), it shows up in WMP 12 as well, but without a picture, just a music note. I then have to delete it, then restore it and WMP lets me click on it. I right click, then open the destination folder where the MP3 is or MP3's are, and then copy the Album Artwork, and then paste the album artwork onto the MP3 in the library or "Music" area of the WMP. In a split second, it shows the picture on the music/MP3. I then open the destination folder, and if it's 10 songs in that album, they all show the same Artwork, which is what I like. Hopefully that makes sense.

Reply 7 : MP3 Album Artwork Issue

When you select Question as the forum post type, you limit replies and may hamper this from being a discussion.

I'd avoid that choice.

Reply 8 : MP3 Album Artwork Issue

I think I failed to clarify that Explorer and WMP are different things.
I also think I failed to explain how this issue was discussed before and we found some add-on that was helping explorer show those icons,.

Let's see if anyone else will take a stab at this. After too many times of seeing this, it's always some old addon the owner has forgotten about.

WHY IT STOPS WORKING is usually some update to Windows or WMP.
Bob

Reply 9 : MP3 Album Artwork Issue

I just hope I can resolve this soon, as to finding out what I can do for them to reappear. Is that what you are meaning, by someone else taking a stab at it? I'm lost, sorry.

I take it that an App to do this like "Sorry I couldn't find the old discussion but here's another app for that.http://www.techsupportalert.com/content/add-album-cover-images-your-mp3-file-icons.htm " is not a solution?
Bob

Reply 11 : MP3 Album Artwork Issue

I couldn't find a reply button on the last post you typed. No, I have tried re-tagging, re-doing another folder, re-arranging the music in a different wma to mp3 and vise-versa. Nothing has worked at all. It's quite frustrating. I have no idea what is keeping the album artwork from showing up on the MP3's in the album itself. I have all the album artwork that I need/want in every music folder that I have, it just is now not showing on the Mp3's itself.

New Computer (Repost from miscellaneous forum)

Hello I am currently in junior high but I am also looking for a laptop that I can use for college too. I know that portability is important if I go to college but I don't know how much is actually light or heavy.... Some people say 5 lb is too heavy while some say its actually light so... a little help? And another thing is I need a computer with pretty fast processor speed... so mayb above 2.3 gHz... or maybe that's too much? I saw some 1333 mHz ones but I was afraid it might be too slow. Another thing I do with my computer is I draw digitally. I have a wacom tablet so my hobby is drawing with my comp so I think I need a not-too-small-screen laptop... like about 14''?

I looked at Sony Vaio series and so far, they have the prettiest colors. The EA series have really high speed, like 2.8 gHz, and stuff but the bad thing is that they are 5.2 lb... is that too heavy? My friend who also uses the computer for drawing said that Vaio is pretty good but I don't know..

Another potential brand I got my eyes on is HP Pavilion dm4t series but the bad thing is that I heard they break easily..... and they don't have CD drive... I don't know how many times I will use the CD drive because of availability of downloads and USBs, but I just thought it wud b nice to have it just in case...

The third model is ASUS U36JC but I don't know much about it. It does have pretty high processor but the design looks kinda... .too professional to me.... or maybe it's just me who thinks like that.

I know people who do graphic design or something artsy like that say Macbook is good but... I heard that Macbook blocks alot of stuff (which makes it really fast so I guess it's good and bad...) and it is pretty pricey ....

so basically the qualities for my ideal computer is:

1. > 2.3 gHz
2. about or less than 5lbs? is 5 lbs too heavy?
3. 13''~14'' screen size (preferrably 14'')
4. maybe pretty colors... not required
5. maybe CD drive but I know it's not that necessary these days

Sorry for my long rant/question... I just want some advices because I have no idea. This is my first time getting my own personal laptop so I want to get a perfect one so any help is appreciated! happy

Let me share a few ideas.

1.
Do not get a laptop with the Core i7 today (except that dual core
model.) All the quad cores, even the Sandy Bridge are still getting a
tad hot.

2. I'd consider that nice http://store.apple.com/us/configure/MC700LL/A?mco=CNETBe sure to look at Amazon.com for this model too. It's well built and should hit the 4 year mark with care.

3.
The HP is OK but I'm still trying to resolve a warranty issue 9 months
later. I try to not write about that but it's tough when it's been that
long out of action on that purchase.

4. Asus is OK around here. All over the map on how tough they are. The cheaper ones do tend to break sooner.

If it's in any way possible, try another laptop there...maybe a friends...and see if you can log into your account. If you can't, you've just about ruled out your laptop as being the culprit.

Need help fixing operating system not found problem

I have a 3 year old presario f700 compaq laptop computer with vista home premium. Yesterday i was using my computer when it froze. I had to use force shutdown to shutdown the computer. When i turned it back on, it came up with the normal initial compaq screen which then went to a black screen with "operating system not found" on it. I have tried to turn in on after force shutting down many times only to come up with the same operating system not found screen. It does not seem like the hard drive is found in th bios because when i try to run the test hard drive test, the test does not run, a no IDE message or something like that come up right after i click test. The memory test does work and does pass. Any suggestions for me to try or any comments on what you think may be wrong will be greatly appreciated.

Reply 2 : Need help fixing operating system not found problem

When i try to run the primary hard disk self test in bios, the test fails to run and a test status error of " No IDE Device" is listed.

...since it's a laptop, pull out the hard drive and re-seat it by putting it back in.. The connections may simply have become loose or corroded.

If reseating the hard drive doesn't get it done, then start by running a repair install to see if the CD installation fixes the issue. (If the BIOS is recognizing the drive, this probably won't work, but it's worth a try.) If the drive won't accept the reinstall, then you'll need to start looking for a new hard drive.

Hope this helps.

I tried your suggestion but it did not work unfortunately. It appears that i will need a new hard drive. Can you give me a link or point me in the direction of what hard drive would work for a replacement ?

Reply 5 : Need help fixing operating system not found problem

It sounds like a hard drive issue to me too. However the adapter that connects the sata ports on the hard drive to the motherboard of the laptop can on occasion be the culprit. Check to see if any of the gold pins are bent. I would remove the hard drive from your machine, then hook it up to another machine and see if it is recognized. If not you prob do have a faulty hard drive.

Reply 6 : Need help fixing operating system not found problem

I do not see any gold pins where the hard drive is placed in.

Reply 7 : Need help fixing operating system not found problem

Did you system at anytime offer up a SMART attention post? If it did, then the HD was failing. Most here mentioned a bad HD or connection as your response was the system doesn't see the HD anymore. That strongly suggests a bad HD. if none of fixes here work, then don't try to reload the OS, etc. if you deem the data currently on the HD super important. You will need though to replace old HD with new if you want that option to re-use the laptop. Otherwise, remove laptop HD and using an adapter or ext. USB enclosure access old data from a desktop system or yet another laptop. At the same time the laptop being an older model may have given up the ghost as the mtrbd. got hosed. If you have access to another HD to mount in place of old one, try it.

I see on various websites that putting a failed hard drive in a freezer for a few hours will lead to a few minutes of the hard drive working once again. Should i try this? and if the hard drive works after freezing it, does that prove the hard drive has failed and is the reason for the operating system not found error?

Reply 12 : Need help fixing operating system not found problem

The frozen hard drive trick generally is used for retrieving only small amounts of data if no backups have been made previously.. In your case, you want the hard drive to continue working forever.. It's not a good troubleshooting method for most.

As to where to purchase a new hard drive, you could order a replacement from HP/Compaq although it will be expensive there, or try searching the net for such.. Sites, like newegg.com, tigerdirect.com, and a few others should have what you want.

It looks to be the correct size and of SATA type. You'll need to save the brackets on the old hard drive and place them on the new one, but the drive looks appropriate for your computer.. It's not the fastest drive but it's inexpensive and Western Digital is a known brand.

Targeting "only" iPad 2 with our app?

We are developing an Augmented Reality game for iOS (iPhones for sure). http://www.traveller-ar.com

With iPad2, we could possibly release it for "iPad 2" but not for iPad 1. (since iPad 2 has the rear camera, the Augmented Reality features would actually work).

1. is iPad2 market big enough for this?
2. would we **** off too many iPad1 users?

The 35-minute solution: a clean install of your OS, back to factory conditions. It will be as fast then as it was when you bought it. Then, gradually, as you install your antivirus and other programs again, it will become slower again. But it might take a year to become as slow as it is now.

MOBO: GIGABYTE p67a-ud3-b3(revised)
GPU: XFX ATI 6950
PSU: Corsair HX650 Bronze

OPTICAL: 22x Samsung
OS: Windows 7 64bit Home prem.

What you think?

Reply 1 : New Desktop Build. Thoughts Anyone?

What's the proposed use ?

Don't see any RAM ?

Would the 650TX work for you or do you really want the modular ? More $$ for modular.

Re CPU cooling.....I'd head over to FrostyTech.com and see what they show for the various coolers. Bottomline there are better CPU coolers to be had for about the same money.

Is that a full restore disk for the laptop as in Windows 7 64-Bit Home Premium? I did a system backup when I got my ASUS G73JH and it was 4 disks, if this will get the system back up and can fit one disk this would be a lot better.

Reply 5 : G73jh restore disk

hey chastity, I downloaded it and burnt it.. will this work like the driver CD from ASUS? I cant see whats on the DVD, it wont let me?

Reply 6 : G73jh restore disk

No, it's a Recovery CD. It restores the computer to factory state, and nothing else. I have a separate link for the Driver CD.

can you post the link? I cant seem to find it, I have the recovery disk from my old asus g60 wich should work, I just need the driver CD as I dont really know what sequence I should install the drivers my self...

Hotmail problem. What could I possibly have done to it?

Although not experienced I have been using Hotmail for 7/8 years without a problem. I have now got my new built machine running W7 Ultimate and in the process of learning what I have under the bonnet, so to speak, I seem to have caused myself a strange problem. I can sign into Hotmail, I can see the inbox entries but I cannot open them at all! Neither can I delete them. I can check the boxes and then un-check them but, otherwise can do nothing! I feel so stupid tbh. Any sensible suggestions?

Reply 1 : Hotmail problem. What could I possibly have done to it?

First test, try another browser and see if this is a browser problem or not.

There seems to be 3 possibilities;

1] Browser problem. Try a different one.

2] Web site problem. See what others say in the Hotmail forums.

3] Operating System problem. Let's explore all other possibilities first.

If it works in another browser then this tells us it is your browser at fault, (which browser?). That then leads to a security setting in the browser, or an Add-on causing the difficulties.

Many thanks for responding. I,ve tried both IE & FF. Still the same. I,ve tried all the suggestions which I can find in the problem pages/forum. As to the O/S. The machine and installed equipment is less than 2 weeks old and in every other respect works perfectly. In fact Hotmail was operating as it should have and has re-appeared once in 5 days working normally. It is for those reasons I believe that I have erroneously changed some setting or other. I shall continue to see if I can resolve myself although any further suggestions would be more than welcome!

Reply 5 : Hotmail problem. What could I possibly have done to it?

Since writing the above I have used my wife,s Hotmail a/c and it is acting in exactly the same way. Can enter Hotmal, see all the incoming emails but cannot open them. Cannot write new mails or in fact act in any way. I feel that a return to an earlier date and refresh amy be the only solution but, being a new machine, I,ve done quite a lot of installations (which I can do again of course) but also done a fair amount of work. Also I have always used XP PRO previously and I see that it is not quite so straightforward to return in time with W7! Arghhhh. One last effort to see if anyone has a suggestion for me to look into. Since I live in on Tenerife which is 5 hours ahead of Eastern Seaboard Time I shall look back here to-morrow before deciding. I honestly think that with everything being so new on my machine I may have changed a setting and nothing more than that. Anyway, thanks for giving me any further advice.

Reply 6 : Hotmail problem. What could I possibly have done to it?

To resolve this I have decided, much against my better judgement (yes, you may laugh now!) just to accept defeat and I have d/l "Essentials". So I now have to follow the instructions of those people at Microsoft and conform!
Again, thanks to those who tried to help me.

Reply 1 : display screen looks stretched

After XP install we have 10 or more drivers to find and install. The bad news is that after 25 years (Windows 1.0 arrived 1985!) Microsoft has yet to supply an easy way to get those drivers found and installed.

Let's hope you took notes about this the last time you installed.

Have you looked at the video properties? Have you set the display to the native resolution of the screen? In properties, if the resolution needed is not available, back to Bob's reply. You need to install the proper display drivers.

With that dell, you follow Dell's install notes for this OS. It's at dell.com
Go there, head to the service area and put in your SERVICE TAG so you find all the documents for your machine.

Now follow Dell's install notes. If that fails, it's possible the machine needs repairs.

One of the lessons I learned about video card drivers was a long time ago. A more recent refresher course was a "newer" (?) fx5500. One lazy weekend I downloaded every version of Nvidia UNIFIED DRIVER I could find and not one worked. The only driver that worked was on the CD that came with said card. Even Linux didn't work right with this card.

Truly an oddball card I replaced it with something slightly newer and drivers worked across many versions. I can only guess where the card went as I gifted it out on freecycle.com.

Search engine redirection infection

I'm having a problem with my laptop. Anytime I use google or yahoo search it redirects to another site not related to what I'm searching for. Also there's a pop up script error box and random music/commercials playing in the background. I've downloaded Malwarebytes, hitman pro and superantinspyware at the advice from someone else on these computer help forums. They all scanned, located and deleted various malacious programs but I'm still having issues with the search engine redirect, the script error box and random music playing. Everyday when the scans run they find tracking cookies but no viruses/malware/spyware. If anyone can help with this problem it will be greatly appreciated.

Reply 1 : Search engine redirection infection

I hope you made those and if not, it appears you can order them.

If you didn't make them, many on the forum want to know why.
Bob

Reply 2 : Search engine redirection infection

Either way, in some cases, if you can't remove the problem using the tools mentioned in 'your previousl posts, (try them in both "normal" Windows and Safe mode), there are some which must perform a reformat and reinstall the operating system, plus all programs and drivers. If the infection has spread broad enough through the system, occasionally, it can't be removed using normal means. As long as you have the recovery discs, plus you've made backups of your files, you'll be able to accomplish such.

For those who haven't tried all the removal tools mentioned in the responses to link above, please do so.. It takes care of the problem for most.

Hope this helps.

ASUS notebook kicks XBOX and BLuray off internet

Anyone else have problems with the Adobe Download Manager?

When I go to adobe .com and click on download flash player, it takes me through the steps to install the download manager. I follow the steps, and give permission to install. But then 1 of 2 things happens
1. The progress bar is empty (No green fill in the status bar) but the percentage "complete" moves until it hits 100% and the the option to agree an install flash player pops up
2. The Progress bar and the percentage complete shows full and 100%, but then the flash installation agreement never pops up

wondering if others run into this as well

Reply 1 : Anyone else have problems with the Adobe Download Manager?

If I recall Adobe has other ways to get flash installed. Now there are folk that want this downloader to work, but there are too many reasons it may not.

Try the other install methods.
Bob

Reply 2 : Anyone else have problems with the Adobe Download Manager?

I always install it from the link found on adobe.com

once in awhile the download manager works fine. But mostly it is one of the two problems I described above

The recent install of flash player resulted in The progress bar being empty (No green fill in the status bar) but the percentage "complete" moveshit 100% . (Now in my contrl panel add/remove programs, Adobe Download manager showed as installed)

Then the option to agree an install flash player popped up. I agreed then installed and it showed as done. Flash player is installed (Evidenced by C:|WindowsSystem32Macromed folder and also showing up in the add/remove programs)
so does this mean it is installed properly?

Reply 3 : Anyone else have problems with the Adobe Download Manager?

Is to test it.

If you go here;
http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
and see the animation, then Flash is working correctly.

Hope that helps.

Mark

Reply 4 : Anyone else have problems with the Adobe Download Manager?

I really dont care about the download manager as such, only as far as it pertains to the proper isnatllation of the flash player
Infact I tend to uninistall the adaobe download manager after the flash player is installed

Going to the test site Mark gave the link to, I do show that I have the latest version. I can view youtube videos and any page that has flash content seems to work so despite the adobe download manager not working as it is intended, it did install the flash player stuff?

Reply 5 : Anyone else have problems with the Adobe Download Manager?

That's a sure sign that it is installed correctly Bill.

I also get the Adobe Download Manager and find it intrusive and a nuisance. Well, not 'intrusive' perhaps, but it is part of an Adobe Updater process that I would love to disable because it must be running all the time. However it has me beaten. I can never find anything.

So now I have accepted my fate and I put up with Adobe, download manager and all! happy

Mark

Reply 6 : Anyone else have problems with the Adobe Download Manager?

Mark, can't you remove adobe download manager from your control panel via add/remove programs?

Reply 7 : Anyone else have problems with the Adobe Download Manager?

....in the future, download Flash Player from these direct links.. Save them in your "Bookmarks".

Flash Player for IE:

http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe

Flash Player for Non-IE browser (Opera, Firefox etc):

http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe

Hope this helps.

Grif

Reply 8 : Anyone else have problems with the Adobe Download Manager?

Should I uninstall the flash player now and then install from this link you gave?

And why doesn't adobe just take one directly to tha link instead of going through the download manager and stuff?

Reply 9 : Anyone else have problems with the Adobe Download Manager?

...users have internet connection problems which interrupt downloads.. The download manager allows the user to pick up where the download was broken. In addition, some download managers included various advertisement gimmicks. Personally, I've never had the need for such download "helpers", especially with small downloads such as flash.

As to uninstalling, then reinstalling Flash; If you've got an older version of Flash installed currently, then YES, uninstall the old and reinstall the newest versions which includes some recent security fixes.

Hope this helps.

I can't talk for sure about X500s, as I have never tried it actually. But Atheros to Intel, could have BIOS limitations, you guys should think about it My X300 does have it.

After having it installed now for a while, to be honest I cannot really see much difference in overall performance. Its not a necessary upgrade but it wasnt expensive. I had no trouble except the Toshiba wifi Radar no longer works. At least it doesnt find any networks in that program but works fine in Windows.

Online instruction for graphic design / logo creation

I would like to hear suggestions...I would like to find a "hands-on" method to learn how to really use a graphic design software/program.

So...suggestions much appreciated for:

1. What software is the easiest to learn that produces useable end results for print, embroidery, etc (primarily logos). I have a MacBook Pro and having been using Art Text and Pages (really) to create logos - with a good amount of success so far...but obviously very limited in capabilities.

2. Has anyone had success with any specific website/online source of instruction for graphic software? If so...names please!

Thank you for any and all useful suggestions!

Tutorial sharing media on external drives PC Share Manager

Sharing folders from an external drive with PC Share Manager

Tested on Windows Vista and Samsung BD-C6500 and it works flawlessly.

I have taken the time to compile this tutorial because I was pulling my hair out trying to share an external drive through PC Share Manager and finally figured it out. I'm hoping to help you all avoid that.

1. Open command prompt as administrator

Click on "Start", "All Programs", "Accessories", then right click on "Command Prompt" and click on "Run As Administrator"

Accept any warnings and grant permission

2. Open up "My Computer" and see what drive letter is assigned to your external drive. This works for both USB flash drives and external USB Hard Drives.

If your drive is assigned letter F:, then type the following in Command Prompt window and hit enter:

mklink /d c:samsungmovies f:shared

Note: You will need to replace "samsungmovies" with whatever you want your folder to be named and you will also need to replace "shared" to whatever folder your media files are stored in.

For example:
If your external drive is letter "F:" and your media files are in a folder called movies in the root of "F:", then you would type this into command prompt instead:

mklink /d c:samsungmovies f:movies

Once this is done and you hit enter, you will see a message that says Symbolic Link Created

Now close Command Prompt Window

3. Now, open up PC Share Manager and look for your newly shared folder under "Computer", "Local Disk (C:)"
In this case, it would be "samsungmovies" but you can make this whatever you want as I mentioned in the above Note

4. Now, just share that folder like you would share any of the other folders and you?re good to go. Remember to refresh DB or click on Set Changed State in order for changes to take effect.

I hope this helps.
Good luck all.

Reply 1 : Tutorial sharing media on external drives PC Share Manager

I just found an easier way to do this and it will probably work for all windows versions. I tried this on vista and xp and it works.

Go to the directory where PC Share Manager is intalled

On XP it is
C:Program FilesSamsungSamsung PC Share Manager

Double click the file configinfo.ini to open it for editing and under the Shared Folders section, add a new line with the path to the folder on the external drive .

In my case I had to add
E:Movies

Save the ini file and close it. Then open PC Share Manager and the folder on the external drive will be shared already. Just update the DB by clicking the Set Changed State button and check your TV or Blu Ray player and the folder is there with all the media files in it. Files play nice.

Reply 2 : Tutorial sharing media on external drives PC Share Manager

I can get to C:Windowssystem32 but can't go further. I am running Vista Home Basic. the PC share disconnect problem is driving my crazy. My skills are intermediate. Any help will be appreciated. I can get my music and photos to show but the "device disconnect" has got the better of me.

Reply 3 : Tutorial sharing media on external drives PC Share Manager

Why are you going to C:windowssystem32?

Reply 4 : Tutorial sharing media on external drives PC Share Manager

that's what I get when I go to DOS command prompt. How would you get to the above mentioned configinfo.ini file?

Reply 5 : Tutorial sharing media on external drives PC Share Manager

Either just navigate to the location in explorer via my computer and then the c drive or type:

cd "C:Program FilesSamsungSamsung PC Share Manager"

You need the quotes as it has spaces in it.

Reply 6 : Tutorial sharing media on external drives PC Share Manager

Dont use dos for the configinfo file. You need to navigate to the folder where pc share manager is installed then edit the configinfo.ini file.

No problem at all. Thats what the forum is for. You can with it what you want.

Reply 9 : Tutorial sharing media on external drives PC Share Manager

I want add a very important note as to avoid any confusion. These solutions will not work if you have your external drive hooked up to a usb port directly on a router or if it is shared as a network drive. External drives must be connected to usb port on your pc that is running PC Share. If its hooked to a usb port on a router or shared as a network drive, it is a NAS and it wont work.

Reply 10 : Tutorial sharing media on external drives PC Share Manager

Diligent1: Thank you for your post. I've been hunting around for an answer as to why I can't get any data living on a NAS or other networked drives to display while I have no trouble displaying data that lives on the c: drive of the machine PC Share is installed on. Just to be certain, are you saying there is no way to display data from a NAS share or from other networked drives? (I'm using my BD-C6900 player as the networked device) Thanks

Reply 11 : Tutorial sharing media on external drives PC Share Manager

Use mezzmo instead of pc share manager and it will work. Mezzmo is a bit harder to setup but once it is setup, it works flawlessly with Network drives.

Reply 12 : Tutorial sharing media on external drives PC Share Manager

Your other option is to connect your drive to usb port on your pc and then follow one of the methods at beginning of this thread to be able to use pc share manager.

Reply 13 : Tutorial sharing media on external drives PC Share Manager

Thank you, I'll try it both ways

Reply 14 : Tutorial sharing media on external drives PC Share Manager

Mezzmo was a spectacular failure. It would not recognize MPEG Movie Clip files, it streamed AVCHD files way too jerky (not a surprise) and I found the interface confusing because it gave no indication of status (for example instead of telling me that the video format is not recognized, it just sat there so I couldn't tell if it was working on it or it blew up). The 50 picture limit for playlists is also a problem for me.

The configini fix on the other hand worked flawlessly, thanks again

Reply 15 : Tutorial sharing media on external drives PC Share Manager

Its good something worked for you. I had no probs with mezzmo, but then again I was only using avi and mkv.

Reply 16 : Tutorial sharing media on external drives PC Share Manager

I would have expected better! All PC Share Manager does is put a poorly functioning piece of software on your PC that does not offer any functionality for sharing the files between a PC and the Blu Ray player! You can already do this with Windows Media Player sharing and a device that works together with that application. Samsung could have done much better by incorporating that into their device rather than a poorly written piece of software.

For example, the only thing PC Share Manager does is allow a user to access files on another PC. However, you cannot search or you cannot create or play playlists. I've had devices that have worked flawlessly with the Windows Media sharing and have had the full functionality of searching by genre, artist, album, etc. The ability to create playlists is not in this program, nor is the ablity to shuffle music.

I would suggest that Samsung dump PC Share Manager in favor of a software package that works with already available systems and software. Or, add functionality such as searching and playlist support so the DVD player can be an extension of a home network.

I was very disappointed with this software package as I thought it would give more functionality besides being a basic file manager.

Reply 17 : Tutorial sharing media on external drives PC Share Manager

I have followed your procedure to a T however, is there a step missing? Once I click on "Command Prompt" I am not prompted to click on anything that says "run as administrator". I typed in the command as explained ignoring the aforementioned step and i got a message saying that I "do not have sufficient privilege to perform this operation". What am I missing? Any help would be appreciated.I'm using vista, and samsung model bd-c5500c.

Reply 18 : Tutorial sharing media on external drives PC Share Manager

You have to right click on command prompt and a context menu will come up. Then you left click on run as administrator and then the command prompt will open. If I were you, I would just use the second option instead, where you just edit the configinfo.ini file. It's quicker.

Reply 19 : Tutorial sharing media on external drives PC Share Manager

Tried the other method. Got a message saying "Cannot create the C:Program filesSamsungSAMSUNG PC Share Managerconfiginfo.ini file. Make sure that the path and file name are correct." What gives?

Reply 20 : Tutorial sharing media on external drives PC Share Manager

It sounds like you may not have permission to edit the file. Are you logged onto the pc under a secondary acct? Do you have admin rights? If the file set as read only? Also, make sure PC Share Manager isnt running in the background when you try this. If it is, you will get a message like that because the file is in use already and you cant edit it if it is already being used.

It easily accesses the PC Share Manager and shows the folders but, there is no content in them..

When right clicking them in the Share Manager software and selecting properties, their size shows 0 Byte when in fact they are full of content. Over 375gb each folder. The Movie folder does not contain sub-folders, and the TV folder does.

I'm using a Samsung 6300 series LED. Thanks in advance for any advice..

Reply 25 : Tutorial sharing media on external drives PC Share Manager

Back in post 5 of this thread I mentioned that it dont work with NAS. Exactly what you said is the problem I had too when I had my drive hooked up as NAS. Im not sure why. You need a drive to hook up directly to a usb port on your pc, then it will work. Otherwise, you need to use another server software like Mezzmo or something.

Reply 26 : Tutorial sharing media on external drives PC Share Manager

Sorry I wasn't as thorough with my reading. So, whenever you want to access content, do you drag the media you'd like to view from your NAS to your USB External, then stream?

My fianc?e is addicted to our Boxee Box in the living room and unfortunately that is where all my game systems are. I would much rather utilize the feature of the TV rather than have to buy another Boxee Box. Hopefully in the near future a firmware update will solve the NAS compatibility issue.

Reply 27 : Tutorial sharing media on external drives PC Share Manager

Pretty much thats what youll have to do with th setup you have but I wouldnt bother. If I were you, Id use something other than PC share manager. You can try to share those files through windows media player. That might work for you. I have some problems with certain stuff not showing up through wmp but I have vista. I read about people with win 7 having success though.

Dear Dilligent1,
That is a tidy and neat workaround for a rather silly and annoying problem. I made an account just to say thanks.

Reply 29 : Tutorial sharing media on external drives PC Share Manager

I can't get this to work. I have an extrenal 1.5TB external usb drive and after following both ways I get this error when updating the database. "Server stopped abnormally. Please restart server".

Lenovo idea pad s10-3 trackpad problem

Hello all,

I have about 5 netbooks with this problem (I work in a school). The trackpad has lost its connection with the main body. The small cable that attaches the trackpad to the belly of the machine has become unattached at the trackpad end and needs to be reattached. Any ideas?

Tim

Reply 1 : Lenovo idea pad s10-3 trackpad problem

You can't just plug them back in ? Odd how something inside can become unattached...
Got a picture ? Kinda hard to imagine what's there since I don have 1.

Reply 2 : Lenovo idea pad s10-3 trackpad problem

Got a picture but how the hell do I put it here?

Reply 3 : Lenovo idea pad s10-3 trackpad problem

If you can't attach the trackpad for whatever reason, I see no other option other than a separate mouse, OR....get the trackpad connection fixed.

For us to a view a picture on this site, you'll need to post the picture to a image hosting/storage site such as the one at the link below. Once that's done, you can provide a link to the stored picture.

I need to reattach the cable (shown in white on the right of the trackpad tray) to the housing pictured on the bottom of the trackpad. Not having fingures like a dwarf munchkin isn't helping

Either get a USB mouse to perform the function with or attach the touchpad.. Or....have a tech at a local shop do it for you.

Hope this helps.

Cat5e vs Cat6 Ethernet cables

How do i figure out if i need a Cat5e or a cat6 network cable? Is there a big difference between cat5e and cat6?

Reply 1 : Cat5e vs Cat6 Ethernet cables

Both Cat 5e and Cat 6 can allow gigabit speed between gigabit capable devices. Cat 6 is just has tighter specs and will perform better under adverse conditions or as distances approach limits. If you just buy pre-made patch cables, you won't notice much difference. If you buy raw stock make your own, you'll find Cat 6 a little more tricky to work with.

Reply 2 : Cat5e vs Cat6 Ethernet cables

Typically to use CAT6 you would want to run Gigabit hardware, nic card(s) in system(s) from Gigabit router, switch, etc.

how to stabilize an OverClocked sytem

Dear community,

I have recently started overclocking my system. I am using "Prime95" as my stress testing apps, Cpu-z and Cpuid hardware monitor as my monitoring tools. I have managed to clock the system to 3256.6 Mhz(ideally I would like to clock to 3.5-3.6 Ghz) but I can't seem to stabilize it. I have increased the CPU, NB, SB-Volt, decrease the Htlink multiplier and the link self(seen under the CPU-Z screen), and decreased the memory divider.

Here are some of the numbers I have pull out from the Bios, Cpu-Z:
Core volt: 1.409(dare not go higher than this voltage.)
Bus speed: 250.5 Mhz
Multiplier: X13
NB volt: 1.200
SB volt: 1.200
Dram volt: 1.63
HT Link: 2004.1 Mhz (decreased to this final setting)
Decrease memory divider: 1: 2
Core temp: 38o C - 51o C
Error message from Prime95: "Fatal error-rounding was 0.5 expect less than 0.4 hardware failure detected, consult stress.txt file."

I am using "Prime95"to test my system, as test type I am using "small ffts" and "bit of everything". I have also notice that a test fail immediately(within 1 minute) or at the 11 minute mark. Another thing I've notice is worker #4 (in Prime95) is the one that always fail(does that mean it is not getting enough voltage for all four workers?).

If there is anyone out there in the community that may have a suggestion(s) on what I can try to stabilize the system and/ or can explain what the Error Message means(does it give an indication as to what needs to done or where to go and how to fix the problem-that sort of thing), why only worker #4 seem to fail and the test failing at a specific interval in time. please feel free post the suggestion(s) on the forum or contact me at carbonbase_lifeform@hotmail.com.

I sincerely thank all participants in this forum for your help.

Reply 1 : how to stabilize an OverClocked sytem

When you OC, you're pushing your system. The best setup will have increased cooling and stable PSU or capable one. The OC level you reach will be very dependent on those factors, cooling and power. Once, a stable level is meant, increased pushing further will only succeed in a fault or reboot. If your cooling is "air", then consider a water based cooling setup to get into other levels.

to buy a faster CPU than to overclock one to make it somewhat faster. So I consider overclocking as a hobby more than a necessity. Keep on experimenting.

i downloaded avast home edition which is free.it downloaded all right but it will not install on my computer i would appreciate some help thanks

Reply 1 : download avast not installing

Why? Did you not notice the Red Note above where you almost posted a question? How can we help if you tell us nothing about your machine, exactly what happens, your OS?

"Will not install" tells nothing.

Hint, hint.

Reply 2 : download avast not installing

I already download the avast. Already paid through credit card but I cannot install it. HEELPPP!PLEASE!

Reply 3 : download avast not installing

Which operating system is installed on the computer? What make and model is the computer?

WHY can't you install it?
1. Are you downloading a full .exe installer file to your desktop and double clicking on the file to install it? What is the name of that file?

2. EXACTLY what happens when you double click on the file to run the installer? If there are error messages, give the EXACT message.

3. Have you uninstalled all other antivirus programs from your computer BEFORE attempting to install Avast?

4. If the computer is already infected, then antivirus programs frequently won't install.. Please download, install, update, and run a full system scan using the free malware removal tool below:

Malwarebytes Antimalware

From where did you attempt to download the AVAST program?

Hope this helps and let us know more.

Reply 8 : download avast not installing

..what you are doing.. So far, your only explanation is "it won't install"..

4. Which operating system are you using? And if Windows XP, is it Home or Pro? Which service pack?

5. Is it possible your computer is already infected? If so, please click on the link below and run the online scans mentioned in the link:

Please run the Housecall online virus scan located at:
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
Follow the prompts to scan your hard drive for viruses. Select the "Autoclean" option so that Housecall will remove any viruses from your system.
When the scan is finished, please restart your computer.

Now run scans for malware and rootkits.

Please perform a scan with the F-secure online scanner at this link:
http://support.f-secure.com/enu/home/ols.shtml

1. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on "Start Scanning"
You may receive an alert on the address bar at this point to install the ActiveX control, please do so.
2. After installed, click on Accept on the license agreement.
3. Click "Full System Scan" to download the scanning components and begin scan and cleaning.
4. When the scan completes, click the "I want to decide item by item" button.
5. For each item found, Select "Disinfect" and click "Next".

Hope this helps and let us know more.

Reply 10 : download avast not installing

Try reading the questions I gave before and respond with the exact information requested..

3. Have you uninstalled all other antivirus programs from your computer BEFORE attempting to install Avast?

4. Which operating system are you using? And if Windows XP, is it Home or Pro? Which service pack?

"as far as i know it is uninstalled" doesn't give us much to go on.. Does it show up in your Start/All Programs menu? If not, using Windows Explorer, do you see the Avast folder listed in the C:Program Files directory? If so, can you open it

5. Is it possible your computer is already infected?
And now that you've run both scans, what did they find? Anything? Nothing? If something, what?

And another question or two.. Although the "setupeng.exe" file name is correct, have you tried downloading it again, then running it? When I download the file here, it comes up as a 26.4 MB file.. Is it the same on your end?

And how much RAM do you have installed on the computer? A minimum of 128 MB is required but clearly, 512 MB would be better for an XP machine.

Here is a link to the installation guidelines for the Avast program.. Have you followed them?

Hope this helps and let us know more.

Click on the link below which will immediately bring up the download window for full English version of the Avast installation file.. Choose to "Save" the file to your desktop and download the full file to your desktop.

http://files.avast.com/iavs4pro/setupeng.exe

Once the file is on your desktop, BE SURE to uninstall all other antivirus programs you have installed on your computer.. And it's extremely important to install the new program on a CLEAN computer.. If it's not, then use the free online scanner below to clean up the computer.. Click on the link and run the scan it provides.

When you're sure that the computer is clean, try running the Avast installation again.

Time to replace the video card then.

"Looking like it's starting up" is rather vague. If there's nothing on the screen.
"Sounding like it's starting up" (you hear the hard disk working for about a minute, until it shows the welcome screen) would be much better. Turning fans only show the PC has been switched on and the fans have power. But it doesn't say much, if anything, about the motherboard and the hard drive.

To get help you may have to admit that you don't repair PCs and take whatever help is offered (it's free!!)

I know those that are new to repair will often be upset that some assumptions are made.

The first reply was proper because the machine was just acquired.
The second reply is good because it gave you some ideas about what to swap out.

COMPANY REVIEW: iBuyPower

A few weeks ago a my brother decided to buy a computer outside of the normal place that he would go through. He did some research around the internet and found a company called iBuyPower. I have never heard of this company before. Come to find out they use refurbished parts and sell the computers at a to high a price.

Here is my story with the company:

Three weeks ago my brother bought a computer from iBuyPower and he did a rapid delivery method. Which meant he would get the computer shipped within 24 hours and have it within a week. When he received the computer he hooked it up and everything by himself and I had to install the Operating System. Everything installed correctly, it was after install that we started having blue screen and crashing problems. Almost immediately after installing the OS, Windows 7, the blue screens started happening. First it crashed on install of the anti-virus I put on. I figured the file was corrupted to I reinstalled a different anti-virus program, it took. The next thing that happened was I was doing the OS updates and the monitor went black, I figured the video drivers were out of date, so I updated them. Then it blue screened, so un-installed the drivers. Then I put Google Chrome on because IE8 was crashing the computer, it was working fine for awhile there.

After about a day of my brother having more crashes and then finally not booting up at all. I came back over to take a look at it and when I turned it on it did one long beep continuously. I did some research on what error codes mean, this one in particular meant CPU failure. I ended up calling the company and going through some troubleshooting. Long story short we ended up sending it back for repair.

After shipping it back, the company itself had the system for about 24 hours before they shipped out again. When my brother received his "newly refurbished" computer, he plugged it in. He had me come over, again, to set up his OS... again. This time everything installed properly, we didn't have any major issues. Except for a USB driver problem that blue screened us and crashed his computer. This was easily corrected by uninstalling the driver. We had no more issues after this....until after I left. He started installing all of his software and games. Then the issues started happening, AGAIN. It crashed a few different times on him. Then he turned it off and went to work. In the morning he went to turn it on and low and behold it was doing the exact same thing it was doing the last time, the continuous long beep with no BIOS or video. Nothing was showing up. I ended coming back over to call the company again, come to find out all they did was disable the temperature sensor. They didn't check the CPU or the motherboard, they didn't put it through any diagnostic what-so-ever.

In talking to the technician, is where I got the best customer service ever...... not really.

Here's how that went:

I called the company on behalf of my brother to do some troubleshooting with them to figure out what was going on. I was connected to a technician and I was explaining to him what was going on. He was telling me to do things that weren't possible to do, like press the restart button and wait for the Logo screen to pop up. I explained to him before he had me go and attempt to do this that I wasn't able to see the logo screen because the computer wasn't booting up. He kept trying to get me to restart the computer and do what he asked me to do. I informed him 3 different times that what he was asking was impossible and then I explained to him that I am a technician and I work on computer for a living. What happened next completely shocked me, he put me on hold and transferred me to someone else, without telling me he was doing so.

I ended up getting transferred to the Customer Service department.

He did this because I said something early on in our conversation that we wanted to find out what the procedure would be to get a refund. While I was talking to the customer service person I gradually started to get angry. I first informed him that I was transferred without my knowledge to someone that wasn't going to be able to help me fix the issue. Then the person I was talking to kept telling me to calm down and to call him back when I have calmed down. Instead of trying to fix the issue or help me fix the issue, he kept telling me to calm down and let the technician help me. I told him that was exactly what I was doing until he transferred me to Customer service. By the end of my conversation with them, I was so livid with the company. I asked to talk to a supervisor and come to find out the guy I was talking to was also the acting supervisor for the day. Then to top it off instead of trying to calm me down and help me fix the problem, he stuck me on hold. Just hung up on me basically, that told me that he didn't and wasn't going to do anything to make this any better. For me the customer or for their company. I informed them that I was going to be writing up this review, he told me to go ahead and that he didn't care what I did.

All in all, after everything was said and done. My brother ended up calling the company back and he is shipping it to them AGAIN. They said they were going to build him a whole new computer this time, we'll see how this one goes.

It was reviewed through many different companies, CNET had a few not so positive customer reviews.

I for one being a computer person, would NEVER go through this with a company after the reshipment of the "second" computer. I would have gotten my refund and went through another company, at least then I would know I wouldn't get shoddy customer service and I would be able to get reliable tech support. But that is just me. I can go through a computer components company and be able to buy all the products I need for a fraction of the price and have it all be new product. As the saying goes, don't make other people's problems become yours, this is especially true in electronics of any sort.

The moral of this story, please be careful of where you buy your computers. Just because the company sells cool product doesn't mean they are the best company. Do your research and find out as a whole how the company runs and operates. Or use a consultant to find out what they think. Either way don't just settle, know what your getting into.

Reply 1 : COMPANY REVIEW: iBuyPower

After the experience and such, no return other than for a refund should have been done. They will make this all linger, so cancel now. Have the RMA# as of record, so you can file for refund. Do it now before the billing period is up or within the 30-days, etc. whatever your CC does for action, also in writing. That's my advice, live and learn. Also, get online with the BBB and make record for them as well. If they want to arbitrate, don't just go for the refund as the best result. You're on the hook for any S/H though.
